MTV’s new music match software, Music Meter, lets you discover new artists based on your tastes and even shows you tour dates for every artist. The best part? There are actually unknown artists on here.
They actually put time and thought into this, and made an effort to legitimately spotlight local and unsigned artists who are worth recognizing. This might even replace last.fm for me.

1. Go to Amazon.com. Download Everything.
2. Go to Noisetrade.com. Donate if you feel guilty.
3. Check your local library’s website to see if it participates in Freegal Music. It’s a partner deal with Sony, so you have free access to almost anything Sony owns the rights to. There’s a weekly cap, but you can get around it by borrowing your buddies’ library IDs.
